So you have been watching a bit of golf on TV and you have figured out that it is a good way to get in shape. That is a great idea but before you go down to the local sports shop and get some gear for the green take the time to research on the correct golf swing. This is an achievable feat for one and all but it depends on the reason for the game in question. The correct swing is achievable but it is dependent on the angle of the club to the body and the ground. It seems easy when we see all the pros doing it but when it comes to a one on one session with the grass and the clubs it is another thing altogether. If the first few times you set out to play, you get nothing but grass in the air, this is nothing to be ashamed about. For the correct golf swing, the first thing to look into is the positioning of the feet. They should be slightly apart but not too far apart as to cause you to lose your balance. The knees should be slightly bent in order to keep the posture right and the angle of the shaft should be the same as of the left arm. All these are achievable and where possible a friend could always check this aspect for you to make sure you get it right most of the time. When the angle of the arm and the shaft is accurate then the delivery can be as swift as possible without going off course. The right angle is also important for the swing to stay on the plane. The angle of the spine should also be maintained in order for the shots to be on target consistently. The head should be kept level, the shoulder planes at right angles and not stooped, and the spine, which is the main axis for the swing at a constant angle. The correct golf swing can be maintained but again this depends on what the aim of the game is. If the aim is to get a good score then the proper techniques combined with warm up and tons of practice sessions need to be taken on. If the game is being taken on for leisure then the correct swing is aimed at moving the ball from one point to another. For those that have just discovered the game, always remember the focus is to get the ball into the hole by focusing on the green. The flags are not the target they are simply a marker of where the ball should go all along the course. At the end of the day, the correct golf swing should get you to the finish line no matter how long it takes. From here on all you can do is practice on the new techniques that you have learnt repeatedly until you become a professional if that is the intended goal.
